Campfire

dear users,

in the german "off-topic"-part of the forum, one of the most frequented threads is called "lagerfeuer". the translation to it is "campfire" or "bonfire". i guess it is a quite common custom in many countries and cultures to sit around a campfire and talk.

so this is the chance just to have some small-talk, make jokes, talk about whatever you like, may it be nonsense or a "scientific debate", may it be rumors or whatever: campfire talk.

i hope, the flame, once lightend, will shine bright and burn forever!

* translation: "wood spirit" (thanks ante)

Hey Guys
How are u? ;-)

TommyG. 23.06.2011 09:27

Hey, cool. A new campfire-thread. Our aim should be to make this thread bigger (= having more posts) than the german one.

Good luck for that. I think I could help a bit...

Hmm, maybe we should translate the name of "Zwergencup" to "Dwarves Cup". In order to be more "international"...^^

 I'll think of that...

we will need (good) players with english nationality.

right now, the starter-teams are so weak & better austrian, german etc. players are chep to get on the market. this means, everyone will sell or fire their english players.

my idea: for about 1-3 seasons, the computer should check the englisch teams let's say about every 6th match-day - and automatically chance the players nationality to "english".

what do you think?

SteetS 23.06.2011 13:07

Thats a good idea.

Another possibility is, that each english User has the chance to give 6 players per season an english nationality...

Completely agree - only problem is that nationality alone does not make that much difference, as long as the name of the player is something like "Joschka Mühlberger" or "Daniel Landgraf" (just to quote my most recent purchases)... :-?

The original squad had lots of traditional British names like Montgomery, Johnston, Holloway, Boone, Atkins and the like in it - this is the real thing, this is what we need.

Therefore I like the idea with new English names for transfers from Austria, Germany or Switzerland to England better - if Thomas can program this, this would be a perfect solution to the problem...

Cheers,
Christoph

The thing that would be the best fun about that is to translate the English names directly into German names - and the other way round.

For example: Kessler -> Potter

Though, I don't think this would work for every name^^.

refering to a diskussion in another thread: ther won't be any renaming or changes of nationality. however, a scout-system can be online as a new feature soon.

the thought is to discover youth-players by a scout, and this scout is searching abroad. this will produce more players (and better players) of english nationality: they can very well build a future.

what do you think?

if you have improvement or comments on my translation, please pm me.

it is most helpful to me if you copy the whole text, edit it and mark your changings to the original text (colour, black or whatever).

thanks!

i managed to translate every single help-text for you. however: there must be quite an amount of writing-mistakes (concentration...), so it will get even better if you care to read some passages and pm me the whole corrected passage.

I guess I'll check some of those translations this weekend, or whenever i find the time to do so, and see if I find anything to improve.

waldgeist 29.06.2011 22:55

yeah great - you will find a lot to improve - just pm me (whole passage/text) and i will change it...

waldgeist 30.06.2011 12:25

ok, i am doing it myself:

progress of work:
- mentoring-system/link finished
- question & answers-link finished
- basic translation of all the help-threads, adaption of inccorect data etc. finished

yet to do: corrections.

correction finished by me (now open for more corrections):
- "league" finished (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "office" finished (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "chat rules/netiquete" (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "stadium" (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "Advanced tactics settings / "Substitutionstool" (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "About this game & general help " (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "Training" (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "Questions and answers" (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *
- "Mentoring-System" (typing-errors and some syntax/expressions) *

* this means that it is written (so the content ist there) and that i corrected the most obvious mistakes. so those ("*")-marked threads are best to begin with for you in helping making it perfect!

FINISHED!!! :-) by my part at least...
